Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative force globally, redefining how businesses address social and environmental challenges. In 2024, estimates show around 10 million social enterprises worldwide, collectively generating approximately $2 trillion in revenue annually while creating nearly 200 million jobs. Remarkably, women lead about half of these enterprises, highlighting gender inclusivity in this sector. This growth reflects a shift toward purpose-driven business models where financial success is harmonized with societal impact. Social enterprises tackle issues from healthcare access to education equity, focusing particularly on marginalized populations overlooked by traditional markets. Governments and international organizations increasingly recognize social entrepreneurship’s role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering environments that support these enterprises through policies, funding, and capacity-building initiatives.
