Recognizing social enterprises’ potential, governments worldwide are implementing targeted policies to cultivate this sector. Between 2024 and 2027, Ireland’s National Social Enterprise Policy aims to build awareness, sustain growth, support green transitions, and measure impact effectively. This strategic approach includes 57 concrete actions such as increasing public procurement from social enterprises, offering training programs, and providing access to finance. Globally, legal reforms introduce specific legal forms for social businesses and tax incentives to facilitate their growth. Enhanced certification mechanisms and data collection strengthen accountability and transparency. These policies create enabling ecosystems, encouraging social entrepreneurs to innovate while contributing measurably to societal well-being and sustainable development.
