Global Report Highlights Progress in Corporate Climate and Social Responsibility Disclosures for 2024

The IFRS Foundation, in collaboration with the Financial Stability Board (FSB), published a key 2024 report detailing global progress on corporate climate-related and social responsibility disclosures. This report tracks early adoption of ISSB standards and monitors the integration of sustainability disclosures into regulatory frameworks across 30 jurisdictions. It highlights increasing commitments by companies to disclose comprehensive information on climate risks, social factors, and governance practices, responding to investors’ increasing demand for transparency on these non-financial matters. The report acknowledges the foundational role that the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) played and how the ISSB has furthered global standardization by issuing IFRS S1 and S2 standards in 2023, effective in 2024. It also recognizes remaining challenges, including the need for consistent and comparable CSR data to support capital market decision-making. Through webinars and outreach, the IFRS Foundation continues to engage stakeholders to accelerate adoption and improve the quality and usefulness of corporate CSR disclosures worldwide.
