In June 2024, the IFRS Foundation hosted its annual Sustainability Standards Conference in London, where over 500 delegates from more than 60 jurisdictions gathered to discuss the progress and challenges in implementing sustainability and CSR-related disclosure standards. The conference provided a platform for practitioners, regulators, investors, and companies to share insights on the evolving landscape of CSR reporting under the IFRS framework. Topics covered included the practical application of the ISSB’s inaugural standards, integration of CSR metrics in sustainability disclosures, and the impact of these frameworks on corporate governance and stakeholder accountability. The event also highlighted emerging areas such as social capital, human rights, and supply chain responsibility as integral aspects of CSR that companies must address. A key theme was the role of global sustainability standards in aligning diverse corporate reporting practices to enable more consistent, comparable, and decision-useful CSR disclosures for investors worldwide. The 2024 conference underscored the IFRS Foundation’s dedication to supporting organizations globally in advancing CSR transparency and performance measurement in line with investor and societal expectations.
